Some information of the city

Piazza della Repubblica
01
Beautiful monumental expanse, Piazza della Repubblica was formerly called Piazza Esedra. It takes its name from the big exedra of the Roman Baths of Diocletian, whose perimeter traces the semicircular colonnade of the square. Piazza della Repubblica is a late 19th-century work by the great Turin architect Gaetano Koch, who also designed the imposing buildings framing the square.

02
Piazza di Spagna
On entering the piazza, you are immediately taken aback by such elegance: the yellow, brownish ochre-coloured buildings, Bernini’s fountain and the celebrated Spanish Steps rising up towards the Church of SS. Trinità dei Monti, all helping to create a refined, 18th century atmosphere. It is therefore no coincidence that high-fashion brands, such as Gucci, Bulgari and Valentino, all have show-piece shops just off the piazza. Home to English poets John Keats and Percy Bysshe Shelley, the world-famous piazza, located at the foot of the Pincio Hill, has always been considered both a priceless cultural gem as well as a popular tourist attraction.
Colosseo
03
Probably the most famous monument in the world and a symbol of the greatness of Rome, the Flavian Amphitheater, better known as the Colosseum for the colossal bronze statue of Nero that was nearby, stands in the archaeological heart of the city, and from almost two thousand years tells an uninterrupted story of charm and magnificence.

Piazza Venezia
04
Located between Via del Corso and Via dei Fori Imperiali, Piazza Venezia derives its shape from the remaking of the area, which took place at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, for the construction of the Monumento a Vittorio Emanuele II.

Pantheon
05
The most beautiful relic of ancient Rome, a temple so well preserved that it appears as the Romans must have seen it in their times,” so described it the French writer Stendhal in the 19th century. A source of inspiration for the greatest architects of all ages, its beauty, the harmony of the lines and the perfect geometries have always struck people both in the past and the present.

06
Città del Vaticano
The original Saint Peter’s Basilica, a building of a dimension comparable to the current one, was erected around 320 by the emperor Constantine in the place where, according to tradition, the apostle Peter was buried.
